Yet another movie I would never have heard of if I wasn’t online. Thank you internet. With Franklyn‘s cast, I was kinda surprised this movie received no attention. Eva Green, Ryan Phillippe, and Sam Riley (of Control fame). Franklyn is the only movie I’ve seen to pull off a steampunk theme. The movie has a sort of split narrative, where the story happens in two places at once.
Ok, the first time I watched this I was saying WTF the whole way through, and you might too. Get all the way through and you’ll figure it out. If not watch it again. I have watched it twice now, and everything is solid. It’s a decent movie, I think imdb’s rating of a 6.2 might be appropriate for this. The acting was good, of course Sam Riley in anything will be good. And by god the steampunk! A movie finally pulls it off!!!!! I hope to see more of this in some movies. Are there any other steampunk themed movies out there?
If you come across this movie, give it a go. The split narrative is pretty awesome too. I don’t think you will be disappointed. It is good.
