Irreversible is on my top 10 best movies. I absolutely love it. It’s also on our Top 10 list here at wtflicks.com. I don’t even know where to begin with this movie.
It is filmed in reverse, that is, you see what happens last first and surprisingly, it all fits together. Talk about brilliant.
I think what this film is most known for though, aside from being completely awesome, is the rape scene.
This is as close to the real thing as you are gonna get folks. Rape in all it’s glory. Some people claim it as one of the most disturbing moments in film history, but I wouldn’t go that far.
There’s a few interesting tidbits about this movie I like. All of the dialogue was improvised, as the director, Gaspar Noé, only had a 3 page draft.
The movie was made to shock you. To throw you around and make you sick and disguised. The film used infrasound to make you uneasy and almost sick. Really an interesting effect. I guess it works, when the movie premiered, 200 people walked out of the showing.
Brilliant cast too: Monica Bellucci, Vincent Cassel, and Albert Dupontel.
Make this film the next you watch, you will not regret it.
