Caligula

Caligula, featuring Malcom McDowell, portrays a very vivid look into the last few days of Roman Emperor Gaius Germanicus Caligula. He was known for having relations with his sister and just in general being very carnal in his actions.

A lot of people have said this has been one of the worst films they’ve seen. I’ll have to disagree. I kinda liked it. It’s not a film for children, that’s for sure. One scene involves Caligula ramming his fist in another man’s anus. If you want to see a lot of violence and general raunchiness then this film is for you.

Mr. Nobody

Think Memento meets time travel. Jared Let stars as a man who, I think, travels in time finding out what his choices in life bring him to. Quite an interesting film, but it seemed like it dragged on. Not enough action for me.

A Serbian Film

I was lucky enough to get a chance to see this. Wow. Here’s the description from IMDB:

An aging porn star agrees to participate in an “art film” in order to make a clean break from the business, only to discover that he has been drafted into making a pedophilia and necrophilia themed snuff film.

Intense. I’m definitely gonna keep my eyes on the Serbian film market after this. Not a bad movie, not the most grotesque I’ve seen either. But plenty enough for the average joe.

Do watch this if you get a chance!

To the Stars by Hard Ways

This was an interesting film. This was made in 1980s Soviet Union and you can certainly tell. The story is about a woman found in space who attempts to live on Earth. This doesn’t last long and soon finds herself going back to where she came from.

The special effects are awesome in the way only the ’80s can provide (ie: outer space shots being filmed underwater). The movie wasn’t too terribly bad, nor terribly good. Someone compared it to an episode of Star Trek, and I would have to agree. If you’re a fan of Sci-fi, do check it out though. This one isn’t too popular and might be hard to find for most people.
