This is not the Crash that came out in 2004. This is the one that  came out in 1996 with James Spader, Holly Hunter, etc.

Directed by David Cronenberg, it is nutty. Most certainly a WTF movie. The overall premise is that there is a group of people that get off on getting in car crashes and to some degree blood and death.

There’s quite a bit of mature content in this film, I would keep your kids away from it, probably. I wasn’t sure what was going on during the film, but it eventually made sense. The ending was awesome.

The movie starts out with a married (I think) couple that have an open relationship. They eventually find this underground group of people that remind me of the book Rant (where they go around smashing cars, sort of). In the movie like to go around and smash cars and get cut up, it’s their sexual release.  I won’t go any further into it because it is enjoyable and don’t want to give any more spoilers out. I do recommend it.

Ahhh…we all have our own opinions about awards and winners. Frankly I thought James Spader deserved every Emmy he won…he was fabulous as Alan Shore bouncing back and forth between classic drama and out right slap stick comedy. The man is extremely talented and worked his character in the dramedy that was Boston Legal (and the drama, The Practice)like a fine violin.

Please excuse my last post, it was meant for another article…obviously!!!!! But while I am here I will say that I too find Cronenberg’s “Crash” to be a very interesting and thought provoking film. Every time I watch it I seem to develop another theory as to what the film is ultimately saying.

    Thanks for the comments.

Cronenberg is definitely one of my favorite directors, his movies can say so much yet so little at the same time.
