The movie is suppose to be about invisible aliens that come to earth looking for heroin. How typical for the ’80s huh?

They also kill humans during sex  because they find it similar to the high that heroin gives them.

Alright, already you’re thinking WTF, I know. It’s nuts. Bad, very bad keyboard music from the ’80s. The hair styles, the fashion, the acting. WOW. I didn’t know it could get this bad. Received a 5.6 on IMDB, I’d rate this probably a 2, just for the work and effort of filming something.

Liquid Sky

Anne Carlisle (Writer). Telavista 1983, DVD, $16.13

It’s set in the future in a society that seems more truth than fiction, kinda like the movie Idiocracy. The movie is about a government worker who tries to fix a wrongful arrest/killing, but ends up being the one the government goes after. With a bit of comedy and seriousness to the liking I hope we never see, it is entertaining.

Movies like these that depict the future and how we might evolve or devlove are pretty inhteresting to watch.Who knows if we’ll end up with no government like Idiocracy or an incompetent, more paperwork than ever and no questions asked government like in this movie.

Overall, the movie is good. It’s become somewhat of a cult hit. If you like other Terry Gilliam movies, no doubt you’ll like this one. Brazil is also in IMDB’s Top 250 movies at number 245. http://www.imdb.com/chart/top?tt0088846

Charles McKeown (Writer). Universal Studios 1985, DVD, $7.75

You can basically think of this as Fear and Loathing (which is another of my favorite movies) but in England. This movie has been kind of a cult film with followers of Fear and Loathing and other drug culture movies. The movie is filled with absolutely great writing and awesome acting to boot. This is a good movie and I definitely recommend you watch it.

Withnail and I – Criterion Collection

Criterion 1987, DVD, $19.12

The first hour is incredibly boring and I just about turned it off. Watch the first 5-10 minutes and you’ve seen the first hour. After you’ve forwarded an hour you can finally sit down and enjoy it. What I love about the film (and possibly other films of Haneke’s) is the photography. A lot of close up shots that you never see.

Ok, so thar be spoliers ahead!

If you read past this I’m going to assume you have seen the movie or you don’t care hah. They decide to go to Australia so they don’t need anything. They sell off their car, get all their money out of the bank, etc. Then some weird shit happens. They start destroying the house. I don’t know wtf is going on now. Flushing all their money?!?! WTF!!?!? It’s not like we’re going to the moon here folks, you can exchange your money in Australia. When they start talking about death I don’t know what to think. Someone gonna die? But what really did it is when they showed the needle/syringe.

I don’t know why they decided killing themselves and their kid was a good idea. I’m led to believe this was based on a true story, I haven’t looked to see if that’s true or not.

This is a long, drawn out film. It could have been done in an hour. It’s got an interesting message, which I’m not sure I totally understand yet or not, but if you get the chance to watch this, be sure to skip the one hour of nothingness. Or watch a different movie. I don’t think I’ll be watching this film again.
